About the Germania Club

The Germania Club was founded in 1864, making it the oldest German Club in Ontario and one of the oldest German clubs in North America. The original club charter was signed in the name of Her Majesty Queen Victoria on October 2, 1884. In that spirit, it is our desire to promote German culture in the Greater Hamilton area.

The club is open to members, guests and anyone who would like to join and uphold it’s long held traditions. Our club has a solid membership base that has in turn formed associated groups, such as the choir, fishers and hunters, mardi gras group, ladies auxiliary, campers group, skat card game club, and the Culture Circle.

The club holds many entertainment functions such as dances, Oktoberfest, an annual Picnic, Anniversary Ball, New Year’s Eve Ball. Each associated group also has events through-out the year, making a exciting and vibrant atmosphere for the members.
